Our Mission

The mission of The Audiology Center of Snellville is to provide comprehensive audiological testing and rehabilitative services to adults and adolescents in a professional, warm, friendly, caring atmosphere. Our individualized attention reveals our commitment to providing the most appropriate and affordable hearing healthcare solutions possible.

About Us

The Audiology Center of Snellville was founded in 1981 by Becky Schoeneck, M.S. and was originally known as Focus On Hearing. On March 31, 2006, Dr. Sam Vaught acquired the practice and changed the name to The Audiology Center of Snellville.

Dr. Vaught had an established career as an audiologist for over 20 years before earning his Au.D. in 2004 and opening his private practice. As the practice grew over the first six years, in 2012, The Audiology Center of Snellville doubled its office space to accommodate the ongoing expansion of hearing services and additional staff.

  • I am thrilled to have an opportunity to share my good fortune of meeting Dr. Vaught. I can hear like I have not heard in over 20 years. Like many, I have been afflicted with high-frequency hearing loss for years, for years my wife has asked me to seek help, and for years I have dutifully taken hearing tests administered by my ear, nose, and throat specialist. The results have been consistent: High-frequency hearing loss, no different than last time, a hearing aid would help. However, I could still hear everything I needed to hear — the doorbell, my friends, the dogs, automobile traffic, and usually my wife.

After having some difficulty hearing my students (I teach history), and with some reluctance, I went to see Dr. Vaught. He gave me some of the same old tests, but also some different ones. The old tests showed the same old results. The new tests were different, and as a result, I now wear hearing aids programmed and prescribed by Dr. Vaught.

Today, in addition to being able to hear my students, I can hear other things. I used to marvel at the call of the crows and blue jays, and now I can hear humming birds as well. I have also discovered that my bedroom slippers squeak (high-frequency) as I walk, and now I know why my wife doesn't like them. I also have learned that water coming from a faucet has multiple frequencies. Suffice it to say, I can now hear fairly well. My only regret is that I waited this long. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Vaught and his entire, terrific staff for their help in opening my ears.

  • For many, many years my spouse told me he thought nothing was wrong with my hearing, that it was just "selective." That changed after he went with me for my hearing tests — he was so surprised. What an eye-opener for him!

Dr. Vaught was one of three audiologists I interviewed about four years ago. I felt he was the best one for me and this has proven to be true.

Dr. Vaught is: 1) knowledgeable, 2) thorough, 3) conscientious, 4) respectful, 5) patient, and 6) pleasant — traits essential for excellence in any field. He worked with me to fit the best hearing aids for my needs. He did not dismiss my questions but took the time needed to answer them. His post-purchase follow-up has been thorough. The patient in his office is his only patient. Most importantly, his top priority is to help you hear as well as you possibly can.

Dr. Vaught is the same person today that he was the day we first met. I have recommended Dr. Vaught, without reservation, to my friends and will continue to do so.

Thanks, Dr. Vaught and staff (Michelle and Kelly), for making every visit enjoyable.

  • I have been a patient of Dr. Sam Vaught for the past ten years. In that time I have upgraded my hearing devices twice. The last upgrade was this year. After doing several hearing tests, Dr. Vaught provided me with test models to ensure I was purchasing the correct device for my hearing loss.

When programming my devices, Dr. Vaught was meticulous about taking care of all the different situations that I faced, be it teaching a classroom of 30 students, playing my piano, or listening in a social situation. This was not an easy task. Dr. Vaught always welcomed me if I needed a “tune-up” at a day’s notice.

I strongly recommend Dr. Vaught to anyone who needs an audiologist. You will leave his office with confidence in your hearing.
